Album Review

This October, SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS made a very significant gift to all their faithful fans and people who simply enjoy their music. As you might know the band was found in 1994, so this year they decided to release SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS 15th Anniversary Celebration CD which was named ‘Compendium 2’.

‘Compendium 2’ is a special CD which consists of previously unreleased SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS tracks including collaborations with other artists, remixes by other artists, remixes for other artists and new interpretations of the band’s biggest hit. A huge advantage of that CD is a mixture of different songs and styles. For example, you can find here nice rhythmic remixes like ‘Fast Pain Relief’ (Noisuf–X Rmx) and ‘Watching Over You’ (Dance or Die Rmx), which surely will blow up dance floors. And slow deep songs with emotional dark lyrics like ‘Rise and Fall’(Fracture Rmx) and ‘Out In The Rain’ (feat. Reizstrom), they can be a perfect background for a melancholic autumn evenings, which people usually spend at home with a glass of wine and their favourite book / cat.

But listening to songs like ‘Forever’ (Infinity Rmx by S.E. ) and ‘Electroshock’ (Executed by S.E.) you begin to  realize that album has it's weak sides too. Those songs aren't bad, but it really feels like something is missing in them, sometimes they sound too monotonous, too ordinary, even a little bit boring. One of the songs that really surprises me is ‘Delight (On Mexican Radio)’, it strikingly differs from other. It's more instrumental and I can even say gothic, sometimes vocals persistently reminds of Sean Brennan's singing in LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT. Wow, that' s surprisingly interesting and really something new for SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS.

‘Compendium 2’ surely can be a successful purchase for your musical collection. Of course, as almost every CD it has it's advantages and weak sides, but it's definitely worth to be listened, specially if you are a fan of qualitative electro music. Nice work, guys, happy anniversary!
