Any decent cine freak knows what Serum 114 was; Kubrick used it twice in his movies namely in ‘Dr. Strangelove’ and in ‘Clockwork Orange’ as a fictional drug used for rehabilitation and past eraser. And it is the pressure of social rehabilitation that moved the band to be named after that drug. It is though a direction that they didn’t follow closely; SERUM 114’s version of Punk is more closely connected with a mainstream approach in terms of music and as far it concerns their social criticism it’s hardly something you’ve never heard before. Yet, just only 9 months after the release of their previous album, ‘Antiheld’, the band still maintains its sense of fun, and as it seems refuses to take social criticism in a deadly serious way. The result is that you’ll enjoy the whole CD, that is, if you don’t start the comparisons with legendary Punk bands. That SERUM 114 didn’t move much from their previous release is a thing that the band needs to contemplate upon. The direction they undertook seems to be a rather sterile one, limited only in the fun area.
