Album Review

“Music is life, philosophy and return to the core of your soul…” - Tina Dico

Great words, spoken of a great artist, although TINA DICO is not known very well outside her home country Denmark. But in nine years of composing, self-producing and being on stage, she gained the status of a superstar in Denmark and for sure, there has been a huge accumulation of songs and hits. ‘Welcome back colour’ is therefore some kind of “Best of” release first and foremost. But the fact of previously unreleased material and several unplugged songs on the second CD is suggestive of Dico´s dedication for her fans somehow.

On both CDs one gets an impression of the variety and diversity of TINA DICO´s creativity: the first part of CD 1 is affected by extroversion with rough guitar parts and an atmosphere of Indie while continuing with older material, that is more overflowing and opulent. CD 2 contains older and new material recorded unplugged. The whole release is more intimate and fragile and definitely brings Dico´s voice to bear. Honestly, there´s no track to expose, because they´re all beautiful…

Showing the diversity of TINA DICO by releasing a 2 CD or rather by releasing two albums in one, I´m quite astonished. Although I´d prefer the “unplugged session”, I´d not be aghast, whether the general songs would gain success over here! And there´s no questions about it, that success has to happen to TINA DICO outside of Denmark due to her imagination and creativity…
