Massive Attack & Young Fathers

MASSIVE ATTACK are back! A few weeks ago the hip hop duo RUN THE JEWELS tweeted that they are “in the studio with MASSIVE ATTACK.” Following this, rapper Killer Mike posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, “#RTJ x @MassiveAttack. Get ready”. Even though nobody knows whether one can take this get-together as evidence for some new material by MASSIVE ATTACK, these news have been received with cheers. The first reactions were full of enthusiasm showing how important this band from Bristol still is. MASSIVE ATTACK know this as well and have recently announced, not a new album, but a tour through Germany in February.

Even without new songs attending a show by MASSIVE ATTACK is highly recommended since there're only a few artists around who can manage really heavy beats and basses as they do without doing themselves an injury. Besides, Robert „3D“ Del Naja and Grant „Daddy G“ Marshall have a knack of raising the level of the hard heartbeat of the “Bristol sound”, which sounds better and more correct than the term “trip hop”, by the means of great guest singers or their in-depth slow motion rap and vocals. In their home town maybe just PORTISHEAD can get this also right. In combination with a visual presentation of their songs, which MASSIVE ATTACK stage elaborately with the help of the latest technology, every show offers a far better trip than you could possibly get from the best dealer in town.

When it comes to supporting acts the gentlemen also show their sense of taste bringing YOUNG FATHERS from Scotland with them. They're brothers in spirit, so to speak, since the trio from Edinburgh also couldn't care less about genre boundaries adding to the rap and vocal parts whatever might push the song forward and is fun. So, their last record `White Men Are Black Man Too´ was regarded as one of the most exciting releases in the first half of the year. In addition, the renowned British Mercury Prize is also already on their shelf. On top of these achievements, they're a well-reputed live band in which, as in the case of MASSIVE ATTACK, anything can happen.
