Thinking about the M'era Luna festival, one particular adjective immediately comes into one's mind: magical! The festival is taking place for the 17th time this year and is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most popular festivals for those who roam around the darker side of the music spectrum.
It's a "LUNAtic" gathering of old and new friends and music lovers coming from afar, a peaceful weekend outdoors at the campsite during the day and a raging party at night. It's a cultural event offering us a medieval fair, interesting readings, an extravagant fashion show and shopping at the Gothic Fashion Town (clothing and accessory fair). And most importantly, the festival is a black celebration full of high class music shows thanks to various, national and international acts of the scene who will grace the two stages, the main stage and the Hangar stage. On August 12 and 13, M'era Luna 2017 will open its gates once again to the airfield in Hildesheim, Germany, for about 25.000 fans. Are you gonna be there?
This year's diverse line-up presents well known, popular and unique headliners: the Crossover heroes KORN from California around vocalist Jonathan Davis and the Bodypop masters AND ONE around front man Steve Naghavi. Also, the grand Gothic Novel Rock act ASP and the Goth Pop troupe BLUTENGEL will put on a show. In addition, the promising winners of the newcomer contest, which you can soon vote for online (May 9 - 29), will get the chance to hit the stage and introduce their tunes to the M'era masses. As always, there will be electro tunes next to crushing guitars as the festival covers all our beloved genres from Synth Pop, to Dark Wave and Industrial, over Medieval or Dark Rock, to Metal, just to name a few. How about some dark and hypnotic Electronic Body Music by LEATHER STRIP from Denmark and some harsh Industrial Hardcore by the duo AMBASSADOR21 from Belarus? SCHWARZER ENGEL, in contrast, will celebrate their Dark Metal, while THE ARCH will spread some Electro Wave sounds.
You can get your dose of Medieval Folk Rock delivered by SUBWAY TO SALLY, SCHANDMAUL, FEUERSCHWANZ, and VERSENGOLD and if you are thirsting for Neue Deutsche Härte you obviously shouldn't miss MEGAHERZ. Of course, dark rockers UNZUCHT will once again rock out with the crowd who have enthralled so many with their latest piece, the powerful ‘Neuntöter’. Newer as well as older electro favorites such as SOLAR FAKE and PROJECT PITCHFORK are also clearly a must-hear. Enjoy the beats and dance with MESH and COVENANT, celebrate the classic hits of the American dark wavers THE CRÜXSHADOWS and the Turkish post punks SHE PAST AWAY. And don't forget to check out .COM/KILL, the wild Dark Noise project of DIARY OF DREAMS front man Adrian Hates. The quite familiar atmosphere, all the visitors in their special attire and make-up, and all attractions being in close walking distance at the great location at the local airport Drispenstedt in Hildesheim (nearby Hannover), and the top music acts and DJs of the scene – all this makes the M'era Luna a very special event in August that you definitely don't want to miss.
