Danko Jones - “European Fall Tour” 2018
DANKO JONES has written a new book. ‘I’ve got something to say’ is a fantastic and light-footed written book in which the Canadian tells of his experiences as a Rock’n’Roll musician, entertaining, full of anecdotes and cunning. And no, if the band of the same name around the bundle of energy in November / December comes on an extended tour in our halls, he will read nothing from it. Instead, the trio gives full throttle as usual and does what it does best: Rock'n'Roll.
The Metal Hammer wrote about the guys, “One of the most ridiculously entertaining and exciting live bands on the planet”. “Danko himself is a priapic whirlwind of charisma, riffs and lascivious charm.” Whereby it is helpful to know that Priapos is the Greek god of fertility, the son of Dionysus, the god of ecstasy, and Aphrodite, the goddess of love and desire. With that everything is mentioned, what makes the shows of DANKO JONES so unique: let out the much-cited pig, blow riffs boards through the speakers and romp like a dervish across the stage. Add to that an irresistible blend of Blues Rock over 60s Garage Rock, 70s Hard Rock or Power Pop, Hardcore 80s, Indie Rock and Scandinavian Metal from the 1990s plus the not insignificant portion of humor and songs about all of it, but really all about love, sex and all intermediate stages. Always with an ironic and satirical wink, but musically completely serious. It’s not for nothing that DANKO JONES has been regarded as the hardest working band in rock for over 20 years and the self-ironic egomaniac, charming conversationalist and front man as one of the most charismatic shouters ever. Every time again an honor to see and hear you, Mr. Jones.
