Universum25 - “Horizont in Flamen Tour 2023” - Support: Manntra
A new all-star band has come together to rouse humanity from its slumber with their uncompromising hybrid mix of Electro Metal and Punk Rock. Behind the name UNIVERSUM25 are none other than Michael Robert Rhein (IN EXTREMO), Rupert Keplinger (EISBRECHER, ANTITYPE), Patrick “Pat” Prziwara (FIDDLER’S GREEN), Gunnar Schroeder (DRITTE WAHL), Alex Schwers (SLIME), and the renowned Producer Jörg Umbreit. Together on their self-titled debut album, the formation settles accounts with all warmongers and crisis winners, with ideological arsonists and die-hard reality deniers, with religious fanatics, populists, conspiracy theorists and other social cleavages, while holding up a mirror to the world with their angry crossover.
Hard rock guitars, atmospheric electronica and ruthlessly open plain text lyrics that put their finger in the wounds of a planet on the brink of self-destruction: This is what the dark, dystopian sound cosmos of UNIVERSUM25 sounds like. However, instead of waving around wildly with the raised moralizing finger, the quintet sees its first album as an unembellished inventory of the global status quo; combined with a decent boost of motivation and the call for change - and for non-violent resistance. “We interpret the ‘Universe 25’ experiment back then as an analogy to humanity and as a symbol for today's world,” explains guitarist Gunnar Schroeder. “Though we live in abundance and could all coexist peacefully, we fight and destroy each other. We want to initiate a discourse with this album.”
UNIVERSUM25 give a first foretaste of their post-apocalyptic sound power with the remake of the TON STEINE SCHERBEN classic ‘Der Traum ist aus’, which celebrated its 50th publication anniversary in 2022 and whose text has lost absolutely nothing of its topicality and importance in these times. An anti-war song to which singer Micha Rhein has a very special connection. “I had the great honor of meeting Rio Reiser in person a few times during his lifetime.”
