The Synthetic Dream Foundation began its musical journey in 2003 by music composer Brett Branning. In the following years, the band has crafted a sound reminiscent of the glittering phosphorescent life at the bottom of a cold and blackened sea. The project effortlessly fuses harsh, brooding mechanical beats, dreamy neo-classical orchestrations, and dark ambient sound design which shifts through and absorbs cold, alien landscapes. TSDF is not limited by genre, but rather compelled by the infinite possibilities that electronic advancements have bestowed upon the musical arts.

The Synthetic Dream Foundation has quickly become an important up and comer in the electronic music scene in the last several years, with compilation appearances on compilations put out by Alfa Matrix, Dependent, Metropolis, and Mythical Records. TSDF has also completed more than 10 released remixes in 2009 and 2010 including mixes for Suicide Commando, Informatik, Rabia Sorda, System Syn, Grendel, XP8, and many more.

The Synthetic Dream Foundation's newest album “Mechanical Serpent” represents the pinnacle of TSDF's work to date.  The album is a stylistic continuation of the sound created during the last two albums with some interesting new twists.  It is a deft fusion of industrial, IDM, electronica, and orchestral music.  The album features guest vocals by Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion and The Gathering), Summer Bowman (the machine in the garden), Susan Siren, and Tamara Kent.
