DEAD EARTH from Cleveland, Ohio were formed in 2018 by Jack Sabolich after leaving his former band HEMI DEVILS. DEAD EARTH is a Groove/ Thrash Metal band with heavy influences of the US Metal subgenre. The style is mostly a bit rough, especially the vocals by Sabolich are not for the faint of heart. Let’s check the press text: “DEAD EARTH’s music combines catchy riff-based hard rock with a classic Metal sound, where the riff takes precedence, over the more modern technical-based sound many Metal bands have adopted. DEAD EARTH songs are influenced by a blue collar, industrial ideology, as well as the cold, dark winters from the city in which they hail powering their dark, heavy sound similarly to the elements that influenced such legends as BLACK SABBATH and JUDAS PRIEST.”
To be honest, I don’t hear much influences of JUDAS PRIEST (Ok, ‘Kingdom of Lies’ aside) or BLACK SABBATH but a bit of MOTÖRHEAD every now and then but that can be due to the rough voice of Sabolich. All in all, this is pretty solid but the punk attitude that Sabolich transports with his aggressive and carefree vocals is just not for me.
Conclusion: For fans of MOTÖRHEAD and Thrash´n´Roll fans this is the shit, check it out!
