Album Review

BRDIGUNG is a band from Germany, they’ve been on the scene since 2002 and played with bands such as BETONTOD, MASSENDEFEKT, released a co-album with ‘THE SICK FOOLS’, brought out few of only their own music. Now with new record label, they’ve released again their 2008 album ‘Keine Kompromiss’ as well as this new one entitled ‘Tot aber lebendig’ (Dead but alive). This album sounds more mature, noticeably from the first song on, also more subdued in terms that the band seems to be more concentrated on music, playing faster and with more skills, and less loud than ‘Kein Kompromiss’, though expect those qualities present nevertheless. With the mayhem more organised what can we find here? There are more of the rock elements than the metal ones as the extra mark.

Highlights? ‘Alles wird gut’ stayed stuck in my memory, it’s an interesting song, love the riff, the energy of the song, the way the more rock oriented guitar slows it down here and there to create contrast and momentum. The next song ‘Zeichen des Himmels’ brings back the flavour of metal, starts with interesting riff, the drumming is super fast and great and will start moving at least your leg if not all of your body to the rhythm. ‘Verlorene Hoffnung’ offers it more emotive scale, there’s some of sadness here, and it’s quieter and worthy to listen to the guitars here, beautifully weaving the song more complex. ‘Tot aber lebendig’ shows the progress BRDIGUNG have made; I’d definitely recommend a listen as it’s a strong and interesting album and the band is not bad at all.
