When LOST IN DESIRE released their homonymous album in 2010 they had included two poems alongside the 9 songs. ‘Reborn From The Ashes’ is a collection of their songs as they were remixed by well-known bands and I suppose it signifies a new start for the band; a start that lacks the poetical aspect and aims of their debut. Nevertheless, in this CD, the whole listening experience is a one hour party time with the songs remixed fittingly, some boosting the feeling with their upbeat tempo and others standing aside with a more melancholic mood.
One of the catchiest songs here is the remix of ‘Vampire’ by ASSEMBLAGE 23. Grand in its tone and wonderfully playful, it refuses to take its theme seriously and stands out from the rest as a sure “hit” in the dance floors. APOPTYGMA BERZERK gives a cool and expected performance while RAZED IN BLACK offers a groovier remix. IMPERATIVE REACTION are no slackers and their remix is subtle and indicative of their talent whilst in the only reinterpretation of the album, WHISPERS IN THE SHADOW bring something from BAUHAUS into ‘Losing Control’ making it utterly appealing. In short, this is a CD where the bands make the songs to shine without moving that far away from the originals...
