Album Review
TYING TIFFANY used to travel around as a bass player and vocalist for mostly underground bands, she’s also participated in theatre and film. She has a penchant for dark music with Industrial and punk and many other styles’ overtones. She has previously released three studio albums, ‘Undercover’ (2007), ‘Peoples Temple’ (2010) and ‘Brain for Breakfast’ (2011), as well as a remix album, ‘Peoples Temple Remix Edition’ (2011). Now she is here with ‘Dark Days, White Nights’. More in the sphere of dark electro with splashes of dance, the album is mostly melancholy and nostalgic with the benefit of many of the songs being elegantly danceable as well. Her vocal is not overpowering and suits the compositions well.
‘She Never Dies’ is an example of a catchy song with a great atmosphere, a strong song that invites you to the dance floor as well as to engage with its mood. ‘5 AM’ feels to capture the feeling of that dawning hour perfectly with the lingering slowness that is not allowed to slip into unbearable monotony and is another of the outstanding songs to be found on here. ‘Lepers Of The Sun’ is a very interesting song where a male vocal joins her. The subtle catchiness of the songs picks up the darker mood from sticking you in a stasis corner and thus makes it rather beautiful than a drag. Wonderful album with many interesting elements to enjoy.
