Bloc Party
Musically socialized through the pop culture of the 70s, 80s and 90s, Kele, Gordon, Russel and Matt got together at the end of the 90s to make music. They called themselves BLOC PARTY and started their triumphal procession in 2003 after BBC host Steve Lamacq played their demo in his show and invited them to play live there. Their first album ‘Silent Alarm’ was critically acclaimed by musical press and also the 2007 release ‘Weekend in the City’ receives marvellous critics. It is more electronic, more experimental and content-wise more political than ‘Silent Alarm’.

Dropkick Murphys
A group of friends in the cellar of a Boston based coiffeur shop with the goal to combine the music of their youth (Punk, Rock, Irish Folk and Hardcore). The result is the very unique style of the DROPKICK MURPHYS; you can excellently dance and celebrate to since 1996. The self-declared goal of the band is to play music “in the true spirit of punk rock” creating an “all for one, one for all” mood, where everyone has much fun, sings along and gets carried away.

Plain White T’s
Inspired by the atmosphere at the legendary Metro in Chicago, where i.e. Smashing Pumpkins, Ramones, Sonic Youth or New Order were very successful, the teenager Tom Higgensen wants to become a musician himself and gives birth to the band PLAIN WHITE T’s in 1997. They’re singing to catchy Pop-Rock about everything touching American High school kids and already sell their self-produced debut ‘Stop’ quite successful in 2002. Record labels become aware of the five guys: They go on tour with JIMMY EAT WORLD and AFI and in 2007, the new album ‘Every Second Counts’ is released. With the single ‘Hey there Delilah’ comes the international breakthrough in the same year for the PLAIN WHITE T’s.

The (International) Noise Conspiracy
The politically-musical splinter in the ears and backs of the mighty of this world was and is THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY. Punk rock, which sounds like 70s Hard rock or vice versa with lyrics, straight to the point. Only few bands combine great songs with political statements like the Swedish T(I)NC. They fuse passion and politics in a highly explosive mixture of thrilling songs, driving music, dancing, sex, fashion, street fights, sweat and live shows, where other bands would reach their conditional boundaries.

Madsen
MADSEN are back again. With their new album ‘Frieden im Krieg’, they conquer the radio stations, ears and festival stages in 2008. ‘Frieden im Krieg’ is harsher, more extreme and more modern than the last two albums. With O.L.A.F Opal, there was a new producer, introducing new procedures and due to that MADSEN received a development boost, making them record the probably best MADSEN album to this date.

Kaizers Orchestra
They’re considered one of the best live bands worldwide. With ‘Maskineri’, their current album, they bring an original-energetic-organic sound to the Highfield stages as well. From sounds, inspired by Tom-Waits-Blues, East European gypsy music, Punk, Pop melodies and march music to hard rock in AC/DC style + principally Norwegian lyrics, the Scandinavian’s play a big show, drum on oil drums, kettle drums, hub caps and anything else suitable for bashing.

MxPx
Dynamically, the punk rockers of MX PX come along as well. They released their first album at the age of 16. After more than 15 years, in which the trio had deals with renowned labels like A&M and SideOneDummy, they returned to, where they started from. With “Secret Weapon” released in 2007, they returned to Tooth&Nail and did a great job with producer Aaron Sprinkle. A first class Punk Rock CD. The songs rock and the audience along with it.

Black Kids
The BLACK KIDS, titled by the Rolling Stone as one of the 10 best new bands in 2008 and a first class Web 2.0 product completed the today’s roundelay. Founded in 2006, they played as support of more known bands in their hometown Jacksonville. The music press became aware of them, they published their demo EP via MySpace since August 2007 and in October they say, that there’s a management contract with Quest Management also managing BJÖRK and ARCADE FIRE. The BLACK KIDS play synth supported 80s rock with Robert Smith’s chant – melancholy + a handful of Doo-Woops, resulting in songs, you can only categorize as: catchy as hell.
