The Cult - “Europe 8424”
THE CULT announces “8424 Tour” for 40th band anniversary and come to Germany for three shows. To celebrate the anniversary, THE CULT will perform songs from all eleven of their previously released studio albums.
THE CULT has carved out a significant place in music history by pioneering Post-Punk and Hard Rock, pushing boundaries with their experimental spirit, and influencing countless bands across various genres. With their musical prowess, uncompromising attitude, and captivating stage presence, they have forged their own identity and explored new territory for bands. From Billy Duffy’s formative and influential years in Manchester’s underground scene to Ian Astbury’s successful “Gathering of the Tribes” festival, the duo has left an indelible mark on modern music and profoundly shaped its evolution.
Formed in 1984 in England, the groundbreaking Post-Punk band THE CULT has sold millions of albums and received numerous international and US gold and platinum certifications. Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar) have released eleven studio albums throughout THE CULT’s career. The band, often referred to as “shamanic goths,” gained international recognition with their 1985 album ‘Love’, featuring the perennial Rock anthem ‘She Sells Sanctuary’ and the popular follow-up single ‘Rain’. Four years later in 1989, ‘Electric’ was released to critical acclaim, celebrated for its powerful and innovative sound.
Last year, THE CULT released the album ‘Under The Midnight Sun’. A review of the eight-song album aptly stated, “The indelible melodramatic rockers still have fire in their eyes”. In late 2023, Astbury and Duffy reunited as DEATH CULT for a series of live performances, including a single date in the USA at the Theatre at The Ace Hotel and a select number of UK dates with two sold-out shows at Brixton Electric. In early 2024, the band appeared on the Howard Stern Show and began a series of vinyl reissues of their critically acclaimed albums.
Now, the forefathers of their genre are finally coming to Germany for three shows. The German dates kick off on July 31 with a show at Huxleys Neue Welt in Berlin.
