Lollapalooza India 5th Edition with Limp Bizkit, Olivia Dean, KATSEYE, Fontaines D.C., 5 Seconds of Summer, St. Vincent and many more

Some festivals bring together artists. Others bring together entire musical worlds. And when LOLLAPALOOZA INDIA returns to Mumbai on 23rd and 24th January 2027, the city’s iconic Mahalaxmi Race Course will once again become a meeting point for music lovers whose tastes could hardly be more diverse.

Celebrating its fifth Indian edition, the internationally renowned festival promises two days of extraordinary live music, bringing together more than 40 international and homegrown acts across four stages. From Alternative Rock, Nu Metal and Post-Punk to Pop, Indie, Electronic Music and Hip-Hop, the line-up reflects the very spirit that has made LOLLAPALOOZA a global phenomenon.

Originally founded by Perry Farrell in 1991, LOLLAPALOOZA began as a touring festival rooted in alternative music and counterculture. Over the decades, it evolved into an international celebration of musical diversity, eventually finding its way to India in 2023. Since then, Mumbai has welcomed artists such as IMAGINE DRAGONS, THE STROKES, GREEN DAY, STING and LINKIN PARK, firmly establishing the Indian edition as a major event on the country’s live music calendar.

And 2027 looks particularly exciting. For fans of heavier music, one name immediately stands out: LIMP BIZKIT!

The American Nu Metal pioneers, formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994, helped define an entire era with their explosive combination of distorted guitars, Hip-Hop influences, infectious grooves and unapologetically rebellious attitude. Frontman Fred Durst and his bandmates became synonymous with the late-1990s and early-2000s Nu Metal movement, delivering unforgettable anthems such as ‘Break Stuff’, ‘Nookie’, ‘My Generation’ and ‘Rollin’’.

Their long-awaited India debut promises to be one of the festival’s most anticipated moments. With their characteristic mixture of aggression, humour, nostalgia and sheer live energy, LIMP BIZKIT are certainly not a band known for doing things quietly. And frankly, who would want them to?

But LOLLAPALOOZA INDIA 2027 has considerably more to offer than one particularly loud trip down memory lane.

Irish Post-Punk sensation FONTAINES D.C. will also make their India debut, bringing their distinctive combination of poetic lyricism, atmospheric guitars and raw emotional intensity to Mumbai. With critically acclaimed albums including ‘Dogrel’, ‘A Hero’s Death’, ‘Skinty Fia’ and ‘Romance’, the Dublin band have become one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Alternative Rock.

American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist ST. VINCENT, the artistic identity of Annie Clark, promises another fascinating performance. Known for her experimental guitar work, striking visual aesthetics and genre-defying compositions, she effortlessly moves between Art Rock, Alternative, Electronic and experimental sounds.

Australian artist ECCA VANDAL adds another particularly intriguing dimension to the line-up. Combining Punk attitude, Alternative Rock, Hip-Hop and Electronic influences, her music challenges stylistic boundaries with remarkable confidence. American band PINKSHIFT, meanwhile, bring their energetic fusion of Punk, Emo and Alternative Rock, adding another welcome dose of guitar-driven intensity.

On the Pop side, British singer-songwriter OLIVIA DEAN arrives following her remarkable international breakthrough, bringing her soulful blend of contemporary Pop, Jazz and R&B to Indian audiences for the first time. Global girl group KATSEYE and Australian Pop-Rock favourites 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER will also make their India debuts, while electronic music enthusiasts can look forward to performances by STEVE ANGELLO, 2MANYDJS and Japanese electronic artist ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U. Another particularly interesting collaboration will bring together legendary THE POLICE drummer Stewart Copeland and Indian composer Ricky Kej, promising an encounter between different musical traditions and creative perspectives.

The Indian line-up is equally worth exploring. From the distinctive sounds of INDIAN OCEAN and the guitar-driven compositions of BLACKSTRATBLUES to the energetic performances of SCRIBE, THE LIGHTYEARS EXPLODE and numerous emerging independent artists, the festival continues to provide an important platform for India’s diverse and rapidly evolving music scene.

And that is perhaps what makes LOLLAPALOOZA INDIA so appealing. It is not simply about bringing international stars to Mumbai. It is about creating an environment where different genres, generations and musical cultures can meet, sometimes in wonderfully unexpected ways. One moment might be filled with crushing guitars and thousands of voices shouting along to a Nu Metal anthem; the next could offer an intimate singer-songwriter performance, an experimental electronic journey or a completely new discovery from India’s independent music scene.

For two days in January, the Mahalaxmi Race Course will become a place where musical boundaries matter considerably less than the shared experience of live music. And with LIMP BIZKIT finally making their way to India, there is every reason to expect that at least part of Mumbai will be getting wonderfully loud. Let the countdown begin!
