ERASURE are returning to the road in 2027. The iconic Synth-Pop duo of Andy Bell and Vince Clarke have announced their “Radio!! Radio!! Tour”, taking them across the UK and Europe in April and May 2027. The tour will include six dates in Germany, with stops in Cologne, Hamburg, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Hanover and Berlin. The tour follows the release of ERASURE’s 20th studio album, ‘Radio!! Radio!!’, which arrives on 12 March 2027 via Mute / [PIAS]. The album marks the duo’s first new studio record in six years and comes as ERASURE approach the 40th anniversary of their debut album.The first taste of the new record is ‘Wings Of Love’, a shimmering Synth-Pop track that captures the emotional core of the album while remaining unmistakably ERASURE. Premiered on BBC Radio 2, the song sees Andy Bell reflecting on love, loneliness and the people who have shaped his life. “I feel really honoured that I’ve had people in my life like Vincent, Paul, Stephen, my sisters and brother, people I’ve worked with,” Bell says. “We all help each other out and keep each other’s spirits up.”
That sense of connection runs through ‘Radio!! Radio!!’, which grew out of a particularly difficult period for both members. Following the death of Clarke’s wife, ERASURE took a break before Bell and Clarke eventually returned to writing together. “When you’re a songwriting partnership for so long, it’s very deep, kind of like a soul connection,” Bell explains. “You trust that person with your life, and because of the nature of songwriting, you just lay bare your soul. That becomes a sacred space.”
For Clarke, the songs also reflect elements of what was happening in his own life. “Some of the songs are quite reflective of stuff that’s been going on in my life, but not all of them,” he says. “We didn’t have to think about it or talk about it - it just happened that way.”
While ‘Radio!! Radio!!’ remains rooted in the Synth-Pop sound ERASURE have perfected over four decades, Clarke has also explored piano and acoustic guitar more extensively than before, adding new textures to the duo’s familiar electronic palette.
The new album and upcoming tour also mark an unusual change to the way ERASURE will operate on the road. Having recently moved from New York to California, Vince Clarke will serve as the tour’s Musical Director but will not perform on stage alongside Andy Bell. “I told Andy, and he made me musical director, and I thought, ‘how fantastic is that?’” Clarke says. “I can do all my work and all my direction from here, but I don’t have to leave sunny San Diego.”
Bell is keen to stress that Clarke’s role remains central to ERASURE. “I’m so pleased that we were able to find a way for the tour to work for Vince. He’s always too modest but he’s so much more than the Musical Director, Vince is one of the great loves of my life and everything we do as Erasure we decide together.”
The ‘Radio!! Radio!! Tour’ begins on 25 April 2027 at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena before travelling through the UK and Ireland, including London’s The O2 on 12 May. ERASURE then head to Germany for six shows before continuing to Denmark and Sweden. Special guests LADYTRON will join the duo for all UK and Ireland dates marked with an asterisk.
For a band with four decades of history behind them, there is still no question of simply going through the motions. As Bell puts it: “It’s a two-person brain, and everything that we’ve gone through comes into it. We have a sense of responsibility. We couldn’t ever do something throwaway.”
