On 22nd August, one of the most successful singers worldwide, Robin Gibb, is visiting us at Berlin’s citadel. His voice has gone around the world with the countless hits with the BEEGEES in five decades and yet he’s left his own mark sin the pop chronicles; no minor achievement, considering how genuine and definitive the Gibb brothers always sounded as vocal ensemble. But since 1983, Robin is a veritable solo artist as well. There he sang his ‘Juliet’ from the alum ‘How old are you’ to the top of the German Single Charts with his special voice, you could recognize among thousands. (Doors open: 7:00 PM, Starts: 8:00 PM, ticket fee: starts from 48 EUR (Presale)) After the concert, there’s the aftershow party with the hits from now and the pop cultural past on the ‘Bastion Königin’ of the citadel.

The numerous ABBA performances and the top chart position of the film Mamma Mia show that the hits of ABBA are unforgotten and more than popular nowadays; and on top follows the authentic ABBA party ‘Abba Mania auf Super Trouper Tour 2008’.

In respect of ABBA and their lifetime achievement, it not only had to be an impressing revival, the stage decoration and the light design had to be detailed; and most of all the colourful costumes were supposed to be the trademarks of this tribute  concert. Countless videos, photo albums, covers helped with the ABBA mania development. They’re working hard in the studio to get the ABBA sound, filtered out the vocal parts and studied the instrumental passages. All this seemed so real that millions of people in Europe already danced their feet off and if you dare you can win a meeting with the actors at the big karaoke contest (Doors open: 6:00 PM, Starts: 7:30 PM, ticket fee: 16 EUR (Presale)). Afterwards there’s no end in sight for the Abba Mania, because it’s time for the big ABBA aftershow party and all ‘Dancing Queens’ and kings can dance the night away on the ‘Bastion Königin’

Just recently a biography of THE punk rock icon was released. The unbreakable singer with the legendary original line-up Iggy Pop (Vocals), Ron Asheton (Guitar), Scott Asheton (Drums) and #1 fan Mike Watt (Bass) finally returns to Berlin on 28th August 2008. After the last show of the re-united IGGY & THE STOOGES at Berlin’s Columbiahall (2004) even the most critical critic didn’t hold back with praise. IGGY & THE STOOGES weren’t as good as in their early years, they were better. The last 30 years seem to have passed by the grandmaster IGGY POP without a trace, a wonder considering the moved history of the stooges. On 28th August IGGY & THE STOOGES make rock history on the citadel(Doors open: 5:00 PM, Starts: 6:00 PM, ticket fee: 35 EUR (Presale)) supported by the Berlin based  hardcore heroes JINGO DE LYNCH, the wild guys of EL*KE and the garage kings THE ASSASINATIONS, followed by a party with the hottest of Berlin’s Rock’n’Roll clubs

Pop history will already be written one day later on 29th August. Then the Zita Pop festival, the pop electronic counterpart to the Zita Rock festivals opens its gates for the first time. Berlin’s EBM pop heroes AND ONE, the synth pop heroes CAMOUFLAGE (The Great Commandment), the successful sons of the DEPECHE MODE era MESG and the Canadian Dark Synth Popper PSYCHE will properly celebrate this event (Doors open: 4:00 PM, Starts: 5:00 PM, ticket fee: 25 EUR (Presale)). Swirling electronic sounds will dominate the aftershow party on the ‘Bastion Königin’.

We’ll celebrate the big finale of the Citadel Music Festival on 1st September with Berlin’s Global Pop visionaries SCHILLER. After a great show in the sold-out Columbiahall end of May, the Echo award winner invites to an Open Air at the citadel to present his masterful soundscapes in the wonderful atmosphere of the citadel event (Doors open: 7:30 PM, Starts: 8:30 PM, ticket fee: 32.50 EUR (Presale)) Subsequent to the concert the innovative tones of the big conclusion party of the Citadel Music Festival 2008 will sound.
