Electro-Chanson-Pop-Romantic is how CHAPEAU CLAQUE call their music and it has just as much facets as it causes baffled looks with that term. From the Electro pop aerobic sound over the dramatic art of a piano ballad to chanson, disguised as French tango, CHAPEAU CLAQUE create a colourfully laced package of emotions and style. Singer and songwriter Maria Antonia (22) aka “Mademoiselle Chapeau” writes for 11 years, mostly in her mother language German, but now and then the English breaks through. The band she’s gathering around herself since 1 ½ years, after the release of their debut ‘Hand aufs Herz’, gives the new album ‘fabelweiss’ coming in October a new and more organic sound. If we’re speaking of a band, we’re talking about Peer Kleinschmidt (26/Keys), Timo Klöckner (24/ Guitar, Accordion), Jörg Wähner (28/Drums) and Tim Schäfer (26/Bass).

Since Maria has supported NORTHERN LITE with her gentle voice at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2007, the public attention steadily increases; and that with justification, because who writes so playful, creative and honest about the small and the big things in life is allowed to stay. But Maria takes a three month break to work with orphans in Nepal and to teach English; back in Germany, the band tours as support for NORTHERN LITE.
