Summer Breeze Festival

There are quite a few Metal festivals taking place in Germany each summer, but the Summer Breeze in Baden-Württemberg is still one of my favourites. Not as big as the Wacken Open Air and therefore a bit more relaxed, but still coming up with lots of well-known and fantastic bands like Amon Amarth, Dark Fortress, Dark Tranqillity, Finntroll and Dornenreich. But not only Metal bands will delight the willing listeners; there will also be some Gothic formations like L'Ame Immortelle and medieval acts like In Extremo and Tanzwut. This is something I very much like about this festival, that they have quite a wide variety of bands of different styles, and so there is something for each visitor in the billing, whether they are devoted to the harsh and dark Black Metal sounds or Sonja Kraushofer's lovely chants, to name just two extremes. This year is a very special one for the Summer Breeze Festival, as it can celebrate its 10th anniversary!

As usual the SUMMER BREEZE 2007 will take place over three days on two open air stages on the airfield of Aeroclub Dinkelsbühl-Sinbronn. As this year sees its tenth anniversary show, the Breeze team has decided to go for a party tent for the first time in which even more bands will perform and additional performances are going to happen. The tent’s doors will be open on Wednesday, August 15th already. Last year the festival moved from Abtsgmünd to Dinkelsbühl, and I guess most of the attendees found this quite a good change. The new festival ground has shorter ways to go from the stages to the camping areas, and is all in all the better place for such a festival. It just remains to hope that the weather will play along, but little rain showers belong to a festival and even ankle-deep mud cannot scare off a real metal head.

Tickets

A three-day-ticket is available for 60 Euro in pre-sale; it includes camping and parking. Tickets can be ordered online under http://www.summer-breeze.de/site.php?name=Tickets. Surely the tickets can also be bought at the common local ticket counters - on the link just mentioned you can also get a list of the counters who sell the original Summer Breeze hard tickets. This web link also provides a possibility for a bus service to the festival ground. Daily tickets will only be available at the ticket counters on the day of validity. The daily parking lot is just across the street from the camping ground. Parking is included in the ticket price. Purchasing a daily ticket does not allow you to use the camping area. More detailed info regarding this will be available by the end of July.

Camping & Parking

The camping ground can be entered on Wednesday from 10 a.m. on. The daily parking lot will open every morning at 9 a.m. The parking and camping sites will be signposted across the entire Dinkelsbuehl area. There will be enough secured parking and camping space available. You can park your car right next to your tent. Camping without buying a festival ticket is not permitted. Parking and camping will be included in the festival ticket price. Therefore please do use the advised parking and camping areas! Reservations for camping spaces cannot be made. The daily parking area can be found opposite to the camping entrance, just across the street. Of course you can also park your car there while camping on the camping ground. This is especially comfortable if you intend to leave the festival early and need to make sure you can move your car anytime. Camping outside the official camping area is prohibited. Doing so will be ticketed! The police will have an eye on that.
