Pain, Brother Firetribe

“Music means EVERYTHING to me, it was the reason for two divorces; nevertheless it’s the most important thing I my life”, says 36 year old Peter Tägtgren, creative head of PAIN, already producing with the likes of CELTIC FROST, CHILDREN OF BODOM, DIMMU BORGIR and IMMORTAL. He’s amongst Sweden’s most respected producers and musicians. Tägtgren started his career as front man of the atmospheric Death Metal band HYPOCRISY, founded by him. In 1996, when he wanted to write music, more based on solid metal, he needed to ask himself if he wanted to change the style of HYPOCRISY for it. As the band in their genre was in a constant state of development, he opted against it and founded PAIN to be able to experiment with entirely different sounds.

While PAIN in its early days played rather traditional rock and metal, now the latent, very melodic industrial sound has become the main attribute of this project. Tägtgren, not only writing all songs and usually recording all the instruments himself made a big exception for this album. He let his live musicians record some songs and so drummer David Wallin, as well as guitarist Michael Bohlin and Johan Husgavfel made significant contributions to this album. True to the guest appearances, he brought some excellent guest musicians like Annette Olzen of NIGHTWISH on board.

During his entire career, Peter strived to enter new musical paths and never settle for mediocrity. In the past RAMMSTEIN and DEPECHE MODE were amongst Peter’s musical favourites. To a certain point was his music influenced by those two, but nowadays he prefers to create an innovative, very unique kind of music, so we can be sure, Peter will always enter new musical paths to get, where he belongs with PAIN.

“I’m always on the edge – and that’s the best place to be.”
