Album Review
FATAL MUTINY is a Greek thrash metal band from Ioannina, Greece. The band was formed in 2011 by the guitarist Mitsos and Kostas who decided to write and play music together. Only a month later the rest of the gang was assembled and they ended up playing thrash metal with a good bit of progressive metal added to the mix. Their first three track demo “Insult to Life” was recorded in 2012 and it was well received by the media. After some changes in the line-up (of which kind is not mentioned in any source I could find). According to the Facebook site new material is recorded and mixed and they will release their debut early in the year 2014.
The band`s sound varies between complex arrangements and up-tempo parts, riff and break laden thrash with European imprinting. The vocals are a matter of taste, Mitsos barks, shouts and screams his way through the songs (nothing for the tender ear), the guitars speed through the songs with vicious velocity and the drumming slaughters everything the rest hadn`t. All in all the musical approach is only 80% to my liking (I like thrash with a bit of melody) but nonetheless this is some serious stuff. If you are into bands like KREATOR, SODOM, SUICIDAL ANGELS or DESTRUCTION this may be a band for you.
