Album Review
When the new album ‘The Big Idea’ was released the line-up of MINUSHEART was completely new, except for Diver, who kept the project alive during the difficult times since the debut album. The new album Diver started to record alone back in 2009 and finished this spring together with Vary. Unfortunately, they didn't create the new ‘Don't Feed The Cats’. To be completely honest, they weren't even close enough. The first track ‘Inglorious Bang’ is the good opening for the album. It starts with an interesting sample and promises the album to be at least average piece of electronic art. Vocal part is very boring. The manner of singing stays almost the same, usually there is no development during the composition. More over the vocalist lost the ring of his voice, now it sounds mostly emotionless and flat in difference to the first MINUSHEART's album. On the other hand the brilliant decision with additional female vocals saved the situation. ‘Book of Love’ and ‘Morphine Waltz’ are absolute highlights of ‘The Big Idea’. As for lyrics, they seem to be the best part of the album, even if the rhymes are quite simple “lie - die”, “gold - cold”, “fight - alright”, and sometimes there are such lines as “Floor and knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock on your door”. In general, the album isn’t the best experiment of MINUSHEART’s, but since it is in fact the debut album of the band, because of the new line-up, new way of working and so on, a chance should be given.
