One of HENRIK NORDVARG BJÖRKK’s (front man of Electro-/ EBM cult band POUPPÉE FABRIKK) side-projects, NEXUS KENOSIS was, as it seems created, in order to give an extra hand of artistic freedom. As such the band easily transcends the Electronic borders and enters to what it seems to be Intelligent Dark Ambient. But that’s the main weakness to be found here. “Intelligent” music is a badge of honour that is unfitting for the genre and it is granted to the artists with great easiness; a badge for the little Picasso, and a badge for little Timmy who spent his time picking his nose. And a badge for little Tommy who spilled all the colours on the canvas. The latter is the case here. At any point, actually any minute of any song, you can find good ideas but these ideas do not make it to something more concrete. To put it simpler, the outcome is not a song; rather it feels like a series of post-its with ideas which had to be smoothed up in order to look like a song. As for the lyrics someone has only to look at the titles of the songs to see a series of trivialities.
