Electro Aggression Records has managed to compile a rather astonishing collection of Electro bands. It works not only on the level of the songs included here - most of them are exclusive either as original or remixes or as never released on CD before - it also works on the aspect of references that influenced all these Electro bands. You can hear influences from let’s say the CIRCLE JERKS and BLACK FLAG till NECROS, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, FRONT 242 among many others. It is all more excellent as the delving onto older releases reveal more aspects of the potentials of the Electro genre, something that turns to be overshadowed nowadays by the big names of the scene and all the other bands that can be registered as followers. Twenty or so years ago the whole genre wasn’t stabilised as it is now and that by itself can stir some thrill and curiosity to the audiences. This is the reason why I’m thinking this compilation is suitable for the musicians as well; they can serve as a tremendous brainstorming and inspiration. There’s another reason why I also recommend this collection; it has plenty of bloody good songs.
