Single Review

Since his early childhood, Vincent’s love was the music. He learned to play the guitar at the age of 8. Now he’s 27 and has become an established and sought producer and songwriter. His solo debut ‘Lucky Thirteen’, which refers to his birthday on a Friday, the 13th, was already released in Sweden in 2007 and soon will hit the German shops as well, but first comes ‘This is for you’ as a harbinger…

The single starts with the album version of the title track, which wasn’t chosen as single track by coincidence. With a funky beat and a few 70s sound gadgets the song really has the groove and with catchy chorus lines like “This is for you, this is for me, this is for love we left in history” that song will surely climb in the upper region of the charts. As always on today’s single releases, you can find some remix versions on the disc. In this case this would be the ‘Phatty Phunk Mix’ and the ‘Astma & Rockwell Remix’; the first one does its name justice and even incorporates a little house into the mix. A very straight arranged mix which aims for the dance floors while the latter goes a bit more into the direction of the original track. All in all it sounds more electronic but you can hear that the vocal lines were not intended for this tempo and so they sound out of tune. As last track we have a new track called ‘Enemies’ presenting a mixture of reggae Ska and a fair doze of rock, directly running through the body and into the legs. Even better than the A-Side of the single!

In any case, the single makes curious about the upcoming album, definitely a good song to throw into the player on a party.
