Kodaline

The signs are coming thick and fast that KODALINE have produced a new and third record. After the ‘I Would not Be’ EP with the almost a-cappella title track as well as the single ‘Brother’, which was released last autumn, in March came ‘Follow Your Fire’, another song in a new sound guise. And now the Irish band has announced that they will come to Germany in autumn to present us with new and old tracks.

From what has been heard so far, it is KODALINE as you know and love them: great hymns, great choruses, and great emotions. The life of a band is like life itself, and that is being processed in songs, like in ‘Brother’, for example, with the moving lyrics and the classic chorus, in which it deals with the death of their own brother and the grieving process. KODALINE, with their elegiac sound and sonorous productions, manage to turn the therapeutic function of music into big songs. They draw their small and big stories from everyday life, with eternally valid truths and melodies that stay in the ear.

This has been the long tradition with KODALINE. Even in the early days, it helped singer Steve Garrigan and guitarist Mark Prendergast deal with the separations from their respective partners and channeled their emotions into songs about love and loss. With the support of bassist Jason Boland and drummer Vinny May, they have created a wide-screen sound of epic guitars, rising choruses and the characteristically high voice of front man Garrigan. In October, KODALINE will enchant us live again with their new and old hits.
