Following the success of the deluxe editions of ULTRAVOX’ albums ‘Vienna’, ‘Rage In Eden Quartet’ and ‘Lament’ in recent years, Chrysalis Records, via Proper / Bertus Music Distribution, will release on 5th December a deluxe edition box set of ‘The Collection’, the band’s hugely successful 1984 compilation.‘The Collection’ features the 14 singles released by ULTRAVOX between 1980 and 1984. Upon its release, it sold over two million copies worldwide and was certified triple platinum in the UK. Among the most notable tracks on ‘The Collection’ are the cult hit ‘Vienna’, the anti-nuclear war anthem ‘Dancing With Tears In My Eyes’, New Wave synth classics such as ‘All Stood Still’, ‘Hymn’ and ‘The Voice’, as well as the single ‘Love’s Great Adventure’, which was specifically recorded for the original compilation.
This newly remastered compilation has been expanded into a 4CD / 2BD Deluxe Edition. The set features a new ‘Collection II’ comprising a further 14 singles, alternative and unreleased versions from 1986 to 2024, 10 newly created 80s-style 12” extended versions, for which ULTRAVOX were renowned, mixed by Midge Ure, Steven Wilson, Blank & Jones and others, as well as all the band’s B-sides, compiled together for the first time, and two Blu-ray discs featuring over four hours of footage, including all the band’s groundbreaking promotional videos, alternative versions, and a collection of their appearances on the BBC TV show ‘Top of The Pops’ as well as live performances.
The collection is a limited edition of 5,000 units worldwide, housed in a 12-inch box set with six discs (4 CDs / two Blu-rays) within a sturdy slipcase and two 20-page booklets featuring previously unseen photos, images, and lyrics. It will also be available for streaming and via digital services. The 4LP box set is limited to 2,500 copies worldwide.
The newly remastered and expanded 4LP Clear Vinyl Deluxe Edition includes the original compilation and the second part, ‘The Collection II’, featuring a further 14 singles, alternative and unreleased versions from 1986 to 2024 releases. It is housed in a die-cut sleeve with interchangeable artwork and a four-page insert.
The 2LP Black Vinyl variant of the album has been newly remastered by AIR Mastering and cut at half-speed. This edition of the album has been expanded to a double album (the original was a single LP) to achieve the best sound quality. It is housed in a die-cut sleeve with interchangeable front artwork and a four-page insert.
‘The Collection’ is also available as a standard CD, expanded from the original 14 to 19 tracks.
