Glen Hansard - “European Tour 2026”
GLEN HANSARD is the prototype of a born musician who devotes his life entirely to his art. At the age of 13, he began busking in Dublin out of conviction. After founding his band THE FRAMES in 1990, he finally gained international recognition in 1991 through his role as an actor-musician in Alan Parker’s film ‘The Commitments’.
From 2006 onwards, after GLEN HANSARD had already released six albums with THE FRAMES and celebrated his first and so far only number one hit in Ireland with the 2004 album ‘Burn The Maps’, he devoted himself to other projects. Together with Czech singer and multi-instrumentalist Markéta Irglová, he founded the duo THE SWELL SEASON. This resulted in an album of the same name, which also served as the soundtrack for the musical film ‘Once’, in which he and Irglová played the leading roles. The film became an international success and earned the pair an Oscar and a Critics’ Choice Award for “Best Song” with the song ‘Falling Slowly’, while the accompanying musical was honoured with a Grammy in 2013.
With the success of the film, THE FRAMES - whose frontman Hansard has been undisputed since its inception - faded further into the background after the release of their album ‘The Cost’ (2006). In 2009, THE SWELL SEASON released their second album, ‘Strict Joy’. Hansard then focused on his career as a solo musician, touring with Eddie Vedder and writing his first solo album. Aspects such as authenticity, emotionality, intensity, passion and intimacy are evident in his music on all levels and are conveyed through his songs. This is also the case in his rousing live shows, which will take him to Cologne, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg in May 2026.
