Interpol & Bloc Party - “Germany Co-Headline Tour”
It’s 2004: New York Indie-Rock band INTERPOL are touring their second album ‘Antics’, performing two shows in Hamburg and Cologne. Their support act is a rising English Indie-Rock band called BLOC PARTY - an exciting newcomer who have just released their first hit ‘Helicopter’ but are still largely flying under the radar. A year after these shared dates, BLOC PARTY celebrate the explosive release of their debut album ‘Silent Alarm’, crowned NME’s “Album of the Year 20052, with ‘Banquet’ propelling them into the ranks of the UK’s most successful Indie-Rock bands.
Twenty years later, INTERPOL have just wrapped up their 20th anniversary tour for ‘Antics’, while BLOC PARTY mark the 20th anniversary of ‘Silent Alarm’ with a reissue. In November 2026, the two bands - whose histories and trajectories share striking parallels - reunite for a joint co-headline tour, returning to Germany for shows at Berlin’s UBER Arena, Hamburg’s Barclays Arena, and Düsseldorf’s PSD Bank Dome.
With ‘Turn On the Bright Lights’ - widely regarded by fans and critics alike as one of the greatest debut albums of all time - INTERPOL made a similarly triumphant entrance in 2002. Both bands formed in major cultural capitals at the tail end of the 1990s: INTERPOL in New York in 1997, BLOC PARTY in London in 1998. INTERPOL infused their sound with Post-Punk and New Wave influences, releasing their first EP in 2000, which gained them early attention in the UK through London’s XFM. Their debut album, voted “Album of the Year” by Pitchfork, and its breakout track ‘Obstacle 1’ cemented their international breakthrough in 2002.
Their second record ‘Antics’, featuring songs such as ‘Evil’, ‘C’mere’, and ‘Slow Hands’, made INTERPOL one of the most influential Indie bands on the planet in 2004 - leading to their first tour with BLOC PARTY. In 2007, ‘Our Love to Admire’ and its standout track ‘Rest My Chemistry’ carried the American band to No. 2 in the UK album charts and No. 4 on the Billboard 200 - their highest chart entry to date.
This was followed by ‘Interpol’ (2010), ‘El Pintor’ (2014), ‘Marauder’ (2018) and ‘The Other Side of Make-Believe’ (2022), all of which further solidified their legacy. Front man Paul Banks also established himself as a respected solo artist and collaborated with WU-TANG CLAN member RZA in the project BANKS & STEELZ, releasing ‘Anything But Words’ in 2016.
BLOC PARTY, meanwhile, followed their acclaimed debut with 2007’s ‘A Weekend in the City’, which entered the UK charts at No. 2 and reached No. 5 in Germany - the highest chart position of their career. With ‘Intimacy’ (2008), ‘Four’ (2012), ‘Hymns’ (2016) and ‘Alpha Games’ (2022), Kele Okereke and his bandmates created an equally substantial body of work, establishing themselves as one of the most distinctive and successful indie bands of their era with their unmistakably agile, spirited sound.
