deep purlpe splat“Music for the end of humanity (… but not as dark as it sounds)”

DEEP PURPLE are set to release their new studio album, ‘SPLAT!’, on July 3rd via earMUSIC. Pre-orders start today.

Since their formation in 1968, DEEP PURPLE have sold over 120 million albums and long since secured their place in Rock history. Instead of resting on their laurels, DEEP PURPLE resolutely carry their legacy forward, driven by the same spirit that characterised their early albums.

Frontman Ian Gillan: “The current incarnation of DEEP PURPLE feels very much like a modern-day version of Deep Purple from the seventies.”

Once again, the band has teamed up with renowned producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, PINK FLOYD, LOU REED, ALICE COOPER). Together, they have crafted an album that encapsulates the very sound and attitude that have made DEEP PURPLE unmistakable for decades. With ‘SPLAT!’, the band delivers their heaviest album in many years, recorded together in the studio, as has always been DEEP PURPLE’s custom.

Ian Gillan: “I must say: we’re now back to material that’s in line with ‘Highway Star,’ ‘Smoke on the Water,’ and ‘Lazy’ - with the dynamism, balance, and fun that defined our music from 1969 to 1973.”

At the heart of SPLAT! lies an idea developed by Ian Gillan: the end is not understood as destruction, but as transformation. SPLAT! explores the end of humanity not in the sense of a crude apocalypse, but as a metamorphosis beyond physical existence. The album concept will be further unveiled in the weeks leading up to its July 3rd release.

To celebrate the release, DEEP PURPLE will continue their extensive 2026 touring schedule with no fewer than 86 shows across 28 countries on three continents.

Ian Gillan sums it up: “Deep Purple are at a great place right now.”

About Deep Purple

There are barely enough superlatives to adequately acknowledge DEEP PURPLE’s contribution to Rock music. With over 120 million albums sold and arenas filled worldwide for decades, it’s hardly surprising that renowned British radio station Planet Rock named the group the fifth most influential band of all time. Furthermore, the band was honoured with the “Legend Award” at the World Music Awards in 2008 and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. DEEP PURPLE are truly Rock royalty.

With a body of work spanning seven decades, DEEP PURPLE co-founded and shaped the Hard-Rock genre, while continuously venturing into new territories. This kept their sound fresh and attracted new fans, in addition to the legions who have remained loyal to the band since its inception. The celebrated MKII line-up featuring Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Jon Lord, and Ritchie Blackmore was responsible for many of the defining Rock albums of the early seventies, including ‘Made in Japan’, which is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential live albums of all time.

DEEP PURPLE are considered one of the hardest-working bands ever, continuing to release number-one albums and tour worldwide with little pause since their formation in 1968. DEEP PURPLE have remained true to their musical roots, drawing from a versatile blend of styles to create an unmistakable sound that continues to define the band to this day, while also forging a legacy that very few bands have ever been able to achieve. The band has written and recorded so many classics that their audience spans people of diverse generations and backgrounds - something DEEP PURPLE have always openly embraced.

DEEP PURPLE’s most recent studio album, ‘=1’, from 2024, followed their globally chart-topping albums ‘Whoosh!’ (2020), ‘inFinite’ (2017), and ‘NOW What?!’ (2013). Their brand new album ‘SPLAT!’ is due out in 2026. On these albums, DEEP PURPLE collaborated with producer Bob Ezrin, who has also produced KISS, PINK FLOYD, LOU REED, and ALICE COOPER, among others.

Continuing their collaboration with Ezrin, the band recorded a collection of cover songs from home in 2021 during the pandemic - a normal practice for most bands today, but revolutionary for a band that traditionally records everything together in the studio. This resulted in Turning to Crime, a versatile and celebratory look back at their musical roots.

Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey, and Simon McBride continue with renewed vitality, pushing the boundaries of hard rock for audiences worldwide and proving that DEEP PURPLE are still a force to be reckoned with.
