Introduction

SCHWARZBLUT is a Dutch sorority whose members go back many years. All involved share a passion for electronic music, dark romantics and German lyrical poetry. The Music is marked by pounding electro rhythms, harmonic choirs, distorted vocals, cutting leads and grandiloquent orchestras. In the music of SCHWARZBLUT all of this has its place. This is SCHWARZBLUT’s re-release of the first EP called ‘Sehlenwolf’. They have signed a deal with Alfa Matrix Records. They’re already busy with their full-length album, ‘Das Mausoleum’, that is available in the end of March 2010.

Album Review

The EP ‘Sehlenwolf’ contains five tracks. SCHWARZBLUT is comparative with VNV Nation, Feindflug, Helium Vola, Skinny Puppy etc... ‘Der Abschied’ starts with a slow electro intro and gets faster step by step. The beats and rhythms sound great and the song is fast enough to dance, which is very important for the live performance. The synths are very poppy at this track and the vocals make it complete. They used a mix of two poems as song text, both from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. ‘Der Abschied’ is a great opener at ‘Sehlenwolf’.

The second track is ‘Nähe des Geliebten’ and is one of the slower tracks on this album. The female vocals are a good additive. The song text is the poem ‘Nähe des Geliebten’, also from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. After a slower track, now a fast one to dance follows with ‘Muß es eine Trennung geben’. ‘Kontrast’ is also a fast one and the heaviest track on ‘Sehlenwolf’ but they used also slow classical parts on this track. The last track on the EP is ‘Dämmerung senkte sich von oben’ which starts very slow with electronic synthesizer parts and there are only female vocals on this track. This whole track is very simple but it sounds great.
