pil studio2011The controversial and, at times, quite uneven, John Lydon announced that he’ll release a new PUBLIC IMAGE LTD album in 2012. Almost 20 years have passed since their latest album, ‘That What Is Not’ (1992). The hiatus of the band ended at 2009, a year that found Lydon and the rest of the band members travelling around the world for two years in order to finance the upcoming CD.

“I was always full of ideas, but I had to wait until I had enough money to release an album. Everybody thinks I made such a fortune with the Sex Pistols," he explained in an interview at BBC 6Music. "Well, unfortunately that is not true, to make this record we had to tour extensively for two years." The new album, probably titled ‘This Is PiL’, thematically will cover the lives and the experiences of the band members, their ups and downs. The new album is due out early spring and the record will be followed by a UK and European tour.
