"MAN IN THE MACHINE" TELLS A SCIENCE FICTION STORY OF A MAN TRAPPED INSIDE HIS OWN MIND
Singer of dutch art-rock band Fourteen Twentysix announced a new solo project earlier this year. Its Pledge-funded and intriguing debut "Man In The Machine" goes on sale today through the band's website.
"The conceptual album Man In The Machine deals with the thoughts of a man and a machine, delivered through a cinematic soundtrack. The album combines rock, ambient, industrial and contemporary/classic and spoken word into a unique mix." says multi-instrumentalist and entrepreneur Chris van der Linden. The digital version of the album is available today, a deluxe digipack edition goes on sale in October.
The unique album was entirely crowd-funded through www.pledgemusic.com. In less than 60-days fans donated enough money to fully realise the production of the record. "The very direct relationship with the fans is what makes it worthwile for me. Its essentially what its all about: make music and bring it to the listener" explains van der Linden. "I think crowd-funding and independently releasing records is becoming a very sensible option for artists".
Chris van der Linden is an advocate of the independent route, to modest success, generating over 50.000 free music downloads with his art-rock band Fourteen Twentysix and sharing the stage with acts such as Turin Brakes, Alternative4 and Antimatter.
