Back in the days when the church sent sinner to hell, they could expect an ornate organized judgment: who loaded guilt upon his own on his earthly existence was badgered with forks, maltreated with glowing pliers, boiled and roasted. Obviously the error in thinking. What would be the benefit for Teufel to grapple till the end of all days with sudatory punishment of lost souls, maintenance of torture-instruments and surveillance the numerous agonizing ghosts? And why should he listen day and night to the screams of the damned? It needs clarification and the Horned himself takes control. On September 6th he invites to the one and only true "Höllenfahrt" (hell-ride) which will heat up all dance-maniacs with a fireworks of igniting ideas and will bring the clubs to boil over.
The price for this trip is fair: some sins are enough and it can start. Otherwise some drops of blood to sign the membership-card are maximum. Well, and the attendance to let your soul dangle at the wardrobe of the diabolic host. Then you go quickly down to the formidable party-basement, right next to the labyrinth of senses. There the hellfire patters in the fireplace and Teufel’s band is looking forward to unleash the Tanzwut of the new arrived and regular guests. Everybody is invited. Everybody is welcome, as long as the hellhounds let him pass. If they don't like you, you have bad luck. Hypocritical and hypocrites, moralizing and spoilsports can stay home confidently.
It´s like when Teufel and his six abiders celebrated “Weiße Nächte“ excessively. They travelled even to far-away Moscow, had been on the road all the time “home everywhere but still homeless” (“Heimatlos”). Two years later, nothing changed. But they increase the speed. “Now or never, all or nothing!” it´s sung in the title song of the seventh Tanzwut-album. That´s the plan. A “Höllenfahrt” (hell-ride) screams for a powerful engine: the guitars are roasting and the pots are glowing as it only can happen in Teufel’s kitchen. Bagpipe and shawms play for dancing as it is a real pleasure. “Das Gerücht” (“The Rumor”) thrills next to diabolic whispers with that electronic sound-ingredient that seasoned the typical sound of Tanzwut since the beginning.
The earth trembles. “Der Himmel brennt” (“The sky is burning”). Even if you did not know the band before, you will become fire and flame. Medieval instruments, hard rock and hymnal compositions are combined to an irresistible mixture which drives the atmosphere to the top and let Tanzwut enter the charts regularly past years. Is at Tanzwut business as usual? Concerning the strengths of the band: yes. But some sonorous surprised are added. A dulcimer sounds underneath the flaming firmament, in “Niemand weiß“ (“Nobody knows”) an uilleann pipe spreads melancholy while in “Das Elixier” (“The Elixir”) magic rhythm are done by darkuka, frame-drums and maul-drums. The “Hymnus Cerberi“, the ceremonial anthem to the hellhounds of Hades waits with Tromba marinas, deep horn and large frame-drums. A perfect marvellous final!
Twelve new pieces Teufel brew. As Songwriter, producer but first of all as writer and artist he calls for binge or directs your yearning eyes to the glowing hellfire and seduces to imagery waking dreams. His charismatic voice still lures to the labyrinth of the senses. At the latest when he announces “Die letzten Tage werden kommen“ (“The last days will come”), no one will be able to standstill anymore. Here it is again. Tanzwut. Infectious as never before. Let´s call it diabolic sound enjoyment. Hymnal bagpipes, thundering guitars, impulsive beats and an old incantation – there is everything that let´s your heart jump higher. Also the fat sound provides it´s part. No wonder, if the horned himself controls the regulators.
So we have reached the title of the album: anno 2013 the pioneers of medieval-crossover are on a powerful ride and rock as hell! Also on stage, which is next to the home-hades the most favourite residence of the devil. The period to the release could be described best with one of the new song titles: “Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm” (“The calm before the storm”). Tension is in the air. The moment comes closer that your CD-player starts and the walls start to shake. The second that the spots on the stage illuminate and Teufel catches the audience into his spell. Get ready, you sinners! September 6th is oncoming. Don´t hesitate. Safe the money for the discharge letter and get your seat for the “Höllenfahrt” (“hell-ride”), get rid of inhibitions and delight yourself to that diabolic music.
