Finnish Heavy Duo Mystons are working on their fourth album with HIM, 69 Eyes, Apocalyptica producer Hiili Hiilesmaa. The new album is work titled “Black Matter”.
“We are very excited to work with Mr. Hiili Hiilesmaa. It felt like a very natural choice to have him produce our upcoming album. We have demoed 16 songs of which 10 to 11 will end up on the album. The new album will be all about Doom, Stoner, Metal and Alternative Rock with a vintage vibe. 70s and 90s will be very present on the album. The new songs have the familiar raw, aggressive element of Mystons live sound but contain also mellower moments and lyrically we are darker than ever.” says guitarist-vocalist M Myston.
Since the well-received third “3” album (EluccaArts, 2011) Mystons has renewed their line up with a new drummer John Myston and a new element in the upcoming album are vocal harmonies.
“John Myston sings excellent backing vocals which go very well together with my voice. So we’re getting in between the Simon and Garfunkel of Heavy Metal and Alice In Chains territory here with the vocals which has been fun! And furthermore John is also an excellent and a maniacally heavy hitting drummer. ” laughs frontman M Myston.
The fourth album will be released late 2013 by V.R. Label and it will be distributed by Playground Music. Mystons will enter the studio on August 18. www.mystons.com
