Following a remarkable work on the first album of THE EDEN HOUSE and an amazing first solo album (‘... and So The Morning Comes’), released in 2011, she's coming back with a new single, ‘My Hands Are Tied/ Porcelain’, which announces a forthcoming sophomore album, called ‘Give Your Heart To The Hawks’.
While her debut Album ‘…and So The Morning Comes’ had been recorded exclusively at her home in Kent, together with her partner in crime, Steven Hill, Evi's new songs were co-produced by Richard Formby (Mogwai, Ghostpoet, Spacemen 3, Wild Beasts) and mixed by the legendary Phil Brown (Portishead, John Martyn, Talk Talk). Inspired by a sub-zero winter hiding out in the woodlands of greater Berlin and finding a home with Robinson Jeffers & Henry David Thoreau, the duo explore the dark elemental nature of the human heart, as well as environmental & post-apocalyptic themes.
Featuring on the album are guest musicians Martyn Barker (Goldfrapp/ Shriekback), Tatia Starkey (My Vitriol/ Lola Colt), Peter Yates (Fields of the Nephilim) and Billy Cote (Madder Rose). In an interview I had with her, Evi had said that the new songs would be more "percussive", with elements of trip-hop, mainly due to the influence of Phil Brown. The evolution is very subtle here, as the two songs of the new single are beautiful slow ambient ballads, much in the style of her previous work. We are looking forward to the new album!
