Mortiis, the electronic metal band from Notodden (Norway), returns with "The Great Deceiver" album. Expect a mix of techno, industrial, metal, punk and progressive rock which the band describes as being "decidedly '09". The album is the follow-up to 2007's "Some Kind of Heroin" (Earache Records). The band dedicated 2 years to create this album which was produced by Mortiis and Levi, and co-mixed by the duo and Chris Vrenna (Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails). Music videos for the tracks "Doppelganger" and "Zeitgeist" were filmed by Robyn Von Swank, the renowned photographer. Important detail, Mortiis no longer wears the latex mask that was the visual face of the band during its early live performances.

Mortiis started as the solo project of Håvard Ellefsen as a means to convey a story. This aspect was lost over time and Mortiis slowly formed into a band. (Photo by Alexander Langsholt)
