A-ha's newest album "Foot of the Mountain" is available now. The album's material marks a return to synth pop, similar to A-ha's earliest work although the first single might make you think otherwise. Note that the album also holds the track "What There Is", which is an earlier solo track by Mags, which has now been re-recorded for the album. The release was produced by Steve Osborne, who also has produced albums for such artists as New Order, Starsailor, Doves, Elbow, and U2. An excellent release that will even please most Elegant Machinery and related fans.The promotion for this album has been a bit unconventional. On April 24, 2009, A-ha surprised their fanbase by releasing their new single and title track, "Foot of the Mountain", on Norwegian radio. Nothing special you'd think, but the single had been completed only the night before. The song is based upon the track "The Longest Night" by Magne Furuholmen, which was released on his album "A Dot of Black In The Blue Of Your Bliss".
In related news, Norwegian photographer Stian Andersen who has been working with A-ha since 2000, is planning to publish an A-ha photo book in fall 2010.
