A milestone of dark romantic, folk-influenced music is now being re-released. With their album "Ignis Fatuus: Irrlichter" German band ENGELSSTAUB created a fascinating piece of dark music. Based on trance-like percussion basements, beautiful and softly plucked acoustic guitars create impressive folk melodies. Medieval flutes and the male-female vocal dualism raise a sacred lure comparable to DEAD CAN DANCE. The decent use of synthesizers on top of the neo folk rhythmic pattern spreads a fragile charm like DEATH IN JUNE. Skilfully the music flows between apocalyptic folk, neoclassic and fascinating eternal and modern arrangements. Fascinating, beautiful romantic, hypnotic, fragile and far away from being a commercial sell-out, there is just one question to ask.
