MYSTIGMA has finished the long expected follower of the album “Universal Surrender” being recorded under the direction of Dieter Steffan at the Luna Studio in Lüdinghausen as well as at the band’s own Lunatic Studio. 13 songs and one video clip are waiting for release in autumn via echozone, the album being entitled “Andagony”. Originally founded under the name of “Tears of Mystigma” back in the nineties, the band changed their name to the catchier and even more expressive MYSTIGMA in 2005 after some very successful releases. Initially, the band’s name is a wordplay of “mystery” and “stigmata”. A Stigma which marks me, which has branded me.

The goth gods’ already fifth studio album “Andagony” reflects perfectly well the up to now unprecedented fusion between music and lyrics. Being their roughest opus so far consisting of superb gothic hymns, this record impresses with single-worthy melodies and an immense, omnipresent depth and intensity. Especially the audio mastering by Vincent Sorg which was only just accomplished at the Principal Studio (a. o. Die Letzte Instanz, In Extremo, Die Toten Hosen, Xandria, Down Below, Oomph, etc.) in Senden close to Münster, provided the rich, clear and powerful sound.

The song “Vision Incomplete“ has been chosen to be the first video clip from the album “Andagony”. It is based upon a band-atypical and experimental rhythm as well as electronic elements and leads to a fantastic, hymn-like gothic chorus which becomes climactic in the extreme by the contribution of guest singer Ellina Hell. The drive and energy of the song perfectly illustrates the lyrically thematised personality dissociation.

The rough melodic guitar play with voluminous riffs and driving drums can be found again in all the other tracks. Songs like “Irony Of Fate”. No love without hate, without hate no love. Therefore, it is no irony of fate that in “Irony Of Fate” after a wonderfully atmospheric beginning those feelings apparently duel with each other. Relaxed and melancholic verses literally explode into an aggressive chorus packed with guitar riffs just to interact in mutual dependence. A song full of highlights with catchy melodies made of single-worthy material.

What’s more, all further tracks impress with modern metal guitars, some inventive samples and more than only catchy tunes made for the dancefloor.

In the past MYSTIGMA already set high standards with songs like “Pale Reflection”, “Mirrorblade” or “Universal Surrender” which made them popular throughout the scene and, as a result, led to live performances at numerous festivals (a. o.  Wave Gothic Treffen, That Spring Festival, Rollfeld der Finsternis Festival, etc.) and countless gigs. Whoever has watched and experienced the energetic, mystic show of MYSTIGMA, understands only too well why they have always been treated as an insider’s tip.

A lot of new stuff comes along with “Andagony“. Even the label. They found a strong, new partner in the established scene label echozone who might in fact set new global standards for MYSTIGMA. So, let’s look forward to a brilliant album release in autumn!
