How do you set a city to music? Two lads from Berlin that go by the name of Formalin have dared the attempt to tackle the gargantuan task of creating a sonic monument for their hometown, aptly naming the resulting sound “Berlin City Industrial.” Their brainchild is raw, aggressive, unpolished, dirty, repulsive, beautiful, glamorous and stylish all at once – just like the world’s most exciting city. Singer and mastermind Tominous and drummer and producer Gabor merge daring and creative sound design with relentlessly harsh sonic works branded with a highly addictive potential: a rough and fascinating club sound that shamelessly provokes where other bands prefer to follow long-faded trends. “Bodyminding” is a purging sonic storm for a shop worn genre, created in the spirit of the early works of Skinny Puppy or Mentallo & The Fixer, but with a sound that has its sights set on the future and that is heavily infused with the spirit of Germany’s capital. The Hard-Electro-pioneers from Hocico were so impressed by the band’s music that they invited Formalin to support them on their European tour without further ado. Berlin – the steel work symphony of a metropolis!
