Album Review

GRAVEYARD is a Swedish Hard Rock band, formed in 2006. They gained wide recognition with their 2011 album ‘Hisingen Blues’. Following their 2012 album ‘Lights Out’, the band released their fourth album ‘Innocence & Decadence’ three years later via Nuclear Blast Records. Whereas ‘Lights Out’ can be considered a slower, less-catchy album, ‘Innocence & Decadence’ marks a more versatile combination between speed, catchiness and certain moody elements. As faster, more straight-forward songs, ‘Can’t Walk Out’ and ‘Hard Headed’ stick out, whereas ‘Far Too Close’ or ‘Too Much is Not Enough’ rather verge towards balladry and emotional sentiments. In total, GRAVEYARD hardly surprise and continue their own merging of heavily 70s influenced Hard Rock, with psychedelic elements. Although the album in itself is decent enough, it fails to live up to the uniqueness and drive of ‘Hisingen Blues’.
