Thirteen years after their establishment, the Greek INSIDEAD aim at hitting the markets with their debut record ‘Chaos ElecDead’, following the success of their fellow landsmen ‘Suicidal Angels’. The opener ‘No I.D.’ already points out the musical trademarks - modern Thrash Metal underlined with unique and powerful vocals, accompanied by catchy guitars and quite an amount of heaviness and speed. ‘Blood 4 Blood’ contains of very emotional and soft vocals, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea, since they are a bit too dominant and tend to swamp out the heavy attitude. The following ‘Time’ begins with a slower and acoustic phase, but in contrast the balance between melodies and riffs works better in this song. ‘Chaos ElecDead’, the title track, kicks off in a rather Old-School orientated manner and remarks the yet heaviest song of the album.
In contrast to this, ‘In My World’ continues slower and grooving with a focus on technical aspects like guitar solos and demanding drumming. Then, ‘Rise My Head’ gains up speed and possesses a catchy, yet interesting and appealing chorus, which makes it one of the album’s highlights. ‘Away From Me’ appears to be more modern and pretty harsh, whilst ‘Have No Fear’ contains of dominant two-voice-vocals, along with lots of changes in speed. The last dance, ‘Second Face’ combines all before-mentioned trademarks off the band and gives space for a resume: INSIDEAD are definitely a band to keep an eye upon, since their debut record appears pretty interesting and ambitious. Although their own-style can yet be rarefied, I am quite sure that they will find appreciation for their work.
