Good news for friends of harder Rock music! Duisburg in Western Germany has a new festival, the WESTSIDE ROCKFEST, taking place on last Sunday in August (25th) for the first time. The festival will take place at the Landschaftspark Duisburg (Devilside Area). With the Landschaftspark, promoters have found a unique location, being culturally used for a long time already.

Flogging Molly
FLOGGING MOLLY’s latest release, their album ‘Speed of Darkness’, was out already two years ago, in May 2011. The new album was not really sounding like its predecessors anymore. The typical guitar sound had to clear the field for “native” or “original” instruments. Due to the financial crisis that stroke the industrial metropolises most of all, Dave King and his fellas took on undertones as it seems. The songs came into being in Detroit, one of those cities that probably suffered most of that issue. Thousands of people lost their jobs and were faced with ruin.

In the late 90ies REPUBLICA had highly ranked singles in the charts (e. g. “Ready to go”) and are now back with a new EP and its title track “Christiana Obey”. In March REPUBLICA played a remarkably successful tour in their home country England. Further shows in continental Europe are planned for October. For Germany, already four dates in August are confirmed: 01.08.2013 Frankfurt, Nachtleben / 02.08.2013 Hannover, Fährmannsfest, 03.08.2013 Hamburg, Markthalle and 04.08.2013 Köln, Underground

DREAM THEATER--John Petrucci on guitar, John Myung on bass, James LaBrie on vocals, Jordan Rudess on keyboards and continuum, and Mike Mangini on drums--are one of the biggest touring bands in the world having completed a 14-month tour with 110 shows through 34 different countries from 2011-2012 in support of their eleventh studio album A Dramatic Turn Of Events. Now the Grammy-nominated progressive metal titans have announced the first leg of their European tour launching January 15 in Porto, Portugal in support of their new studio album being released September 24; it marks the first self-titled release in the band's nearly three-decade career. The upcoming tour will encompass 30 cities in 16 countries. The band is also planning to tour North America beginning in March 2014.
