Tito & Tarantula - “Best of Tour 2026”

Tito is back! The quintessential Americana and Desert Rock legend is embarking on a highly anticipated “Best Of” European tour in 2026. Born in Mexico and raised in the Alaskan wilderness as the son of a trapper, Tito Larriva’s career began in Los Angeles. Things quickly gained momentum with The Plugz and later the Cruzados.

After scoring a Top 10 single and landing on the cover of Billboard magazine, Larriva became an integral part of the L.A. music and film scene of the 1980s. The RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS were taking their first steps in the rehearsal room next door, while Emmylou Harris and Jeff Porcaro (the late Toto drummer) were his neighbours.

At the same time, the classically trained ballet dancer’s acting career took off. Following his debut as “Hammy” in ‘The Pee-wee Herman Show’ (1981), he worked with Patrick Swayze (‘Road House’), Johnny Depp (‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’), Antonio Banderas (‘Desperado’), Mel Gibson and Milla Jovovich in Wim Wenders’ ‘The Million Dollar Hotel’, David Byrne (‘True Stories’), and Cheech Marin (‘Born in East L.A.’), as well as appearing in the Oscar-winning short film ‘Session Man’ and Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Grindhouse’. Larriva also composed music for over 50 films - including the theme songs for ‘Machete’ (2010) and ‘Machete Kills’ (2013) - and television series.

The catalyst for TITO & TRANTULA was Robert Rodriguez’s invitation to contribute to the film ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ (1995). Their legendary performance as the house band for the Titty Twister bar - combined with the film’s global success - brought the band to Europe for the first time (as the supporting act for Joe Cocker). The European release of their debut album, ‘Tarantism’ - featuring classic tracks from ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ such as ‘After Dark’, ‘Angry Cockroaches’, and ‘Strange Face of Love’ - followed in 1997. These songs marked the beginning of a new era in American film music and showcased Tito Larriva’s exceptional talents as a singer and composer.

TITO & TRANTULA grew out of the weekly sessions Larriva hosted under the name “Tito & Friends”, featuring outstanding musicians from the L.A. scene. In addition to guitarist Steven Hufsteter - who reportedly turned down an offer to join Bob Dylan’s band - the group toured Europe, Asia, and the Americas with top-tier musicians such as guitarist Peter Atanasoff (Norah Jones, Rickie Lee Jones) and drummers Alfredo Ortiz (Beastie Boys, Gogol Bordello) and Rafael Gayol (A-ha, Leonard Cohen).
