BEAST IN BACK is an international Heavy Metal band from Helsinki whose sound blends powerful riffs with melodic hooks, Dance-Metal energy, and the dramatic flair of 1980s Pop and electronic music. Lyrically, they draw upon dark fantasy and science fiction themes, harbouring a particular passion for the manga ‘Berserk’. Known for their explosive live shows, the band has released three acclaimed albums, a string of singles and videos, and even contributed to a video game. Their breakout video, ‘Blind And Frozen’, has garnered over 50 million views on YouTube.
BEAST IN BACK was founded in 2015 by guitarist and songwriter Anton Kabanen. The original line-up consisted of Kabanen, vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos, guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen, bassist Máté Molnár, and drummer Sami Hänninen (who was replaced by Atte Palokangas in 2017). Their debut album, ‘Berserker’ (2017), stormed the Finnish charts and achieved platinum status; its follow-up, ‘From Hell With Love’ (2019), also went platinum, cementing their reputation as one of metal’s most exciting new forces. During this period, they supported major acts like NIGHTWISH in arenas, while their first headlining tour drew over 1,000 fans per night.
In 2021, the band released their third album, ‘Dark Connection’, which debuted at number one in Finland and quickly achieved gold status. By this time, BEAST IN BACK had already become one of Finland’s most successful metal exports. They headlined tours across Europe, North and South America, and Japan - drawing an average of 2,500 fans per show - and performed on the main stages of major European festivals, including Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, and Graspop.
BEAST IN BACK shows no signs of slowing down. In June 2024, they released the single ‘Power Of The Beast’, which Kabanen describes as the band’s first “Super Eurobeast” anthem. Later that same year, they were confirmed as special guests for HELLOWEEN’s 40th-anniversary European tour in the autumn of 2025.
In April 2025, the band announced a high-profile collaboration between Blizzard Entertainment’s ‘Diablo IV’ and ‘Berserk’ - linked to the game’s eighth season, ‘Belial’s Return’ - and released the single ‘Enter The Behelit’ as the accompanying soundtrack. The band’s highly anticipated fourth album is scheduled for release in May 2026.
