If there’s one constant at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, it is that at least one day will defy even the most carefully laid plans. So I came prepared: multiple schedules marked up in the WGT app, handwritten alternatives on paper, passages highlighted in the Pfingstbote - my personal survival kit for the inevitable shifts of fate. On this particular Saturday, it would be the weather playing its whimsical tricks. Still, no forecast could dampen the spirit of exploration this festival always awakens in me.

Wave Gotik Treffen 2025 Day 1 with Victorian Picnic, Then Comes Silence, Coppelius, Nouvelle Vague, Skynd, Alphaville, Kite
Around 4 PM, I finally managed to shut down my home office laptop, grab my camera, tighten my sneakers, plug into the 80s80s WGT radio stream for updates, and head into what felt like my personal opening ceremony of this year’s Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig.

Kat von D - “EU / UK Tour & 2025” - Support: Prayers
Tattoo icon and successful entrepreneur KAT VON D is currently touring through the UK and Europe, trying to successfully step conquer the world of touring artists. With Meet & Greet options at every show, KAT VON D wants to get close to her fans. Sharing stages with her husband PRAYERS, the current EU / UK tour brought them to the Batschkapp in Frankfurt tonight, which was surprisingly empty. Less than 100 fans had come out on this Sunday evening to see either of the two acts, hoping for an even more intimate and exclusive show this way.

The Hu - “Incarnation World Tour” 2025 - Support: Eihwar
In 2025, THE HU just continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their “Incarnation” headline world tour. The tour kicked off in early June and coincides with a series of shows where the Mongolian Rock sensation will support Nordic Folk band HEILUNG on their farewell tour. Altogether, THE HU are performing 10 shows in Germany and appear at some of Europe’s biggest heavy music festivals, including Hellfest and Graspop Metal Meeting. Last night, they stopped in Dortmund with support of Fantasy Folk by EIWAHR
