Track Review

01. Shut me up - 2:49
The track starts with guitar riffs processed with a little distortion effect. Then a kick-ass electronic beat appears and the song gives full throttle. Jason’s vocals are ranging from rather normal to a high screeching. Sometimes some retro electronic sounds appear on the song.

02. Stupid Motherfucker - 2:25
Sometimes appearances are deceitful as in this song. When it starts you just hear some melancholic guitar chords and electronic sounds, but suddenly the mood turns upside down when the drumming and the guitars kick in. The vocals sometimes are sung so fast that you can't separate them from each other. The guys use some breaks as well as different drum sounds on this tune, what makes the song diverse regardless of it's short length.

03. Straight to Video - 3:43
The intro of this song is quite electronic with some synth lines and beats. Sure there're guitars integrated as well but they are not so dominant this time. The vocals parts of James are kind of raw what puts a nice diversion onto the track. In the later course the song gets a little bit more frisky as many different drum layers are added and it bleeps and clicks everywhere.

04. What do they know? - 3:09
With a sound that reminds me a little bit of an organ and the rather restrained vocals this song is started just to turn around a few seconds later. Then the rage breaks through again with the harsh guitars and fast drumming. But there are always those calm moments like when the song started that deliver a good contrast to the powerful parts.

05. Two Hookers and an Eightball - 2:17
I was surprised how much power one could put in such a short piece of music. The electronic sounds are adeptly interwoven with the guitars and result in a powerful electronic punk track with vocals that are mostly pending between harsh and very high.

06. Prom - 2:29
The guitar riff at the beginning already gives a hint that this song is a little bit faster and when the drums set in you know you were right. Another word about the drums which are sounding very organic this time. During the chorus there is a certain subliminal melancholy which rather untypical on the album.

07. Bullshit - 2:41
It starts out with some calmer guitar parts soon accompanied by playful breakbeat-like electronic drum sounds. But as I mentioned before appearances can be deceitful. This is also the case here, where the mood suddenly changes and gets kind of aggressive. The vocals are rather hip hop like this time and it's fun to listen to the drums with their rhythmical changes and breaks.

08. Tom Sawyer - 2:25
No short introduction or anything else. This song starts right away with drums and heavy guitar riffs. It conjured up the image of a car chase with the police in my mind as strange as this might sound.(I've never been involved in something like this of course). Some of the sounds in this song are kind of unusual to my ears.

09. 1989 - 1:58
A short organ intro and then the guys step on the gas right away. No complaints about the drumming again which is a good blend of organic and electronic parts. Some rhythmic changes have been integrated as well you'll also meet up again with the good old retro sounds.

10. You'll rebel to anything - 2:35
The first thing you hear is something that sounds like a virus infecting your computer and showing you on the screen a big “You're totally fucked”. Where do I start. This song is really fast like some others before but here are always breaks in it .I have to mention the drumming again which is really ill with it's diversity of sounds. The vocals are sometimes angry and sometimes they are just unusual high.

Conclusion

When I first saw how long some of the tracks were, I was sure that nothing really surprising could happen in such a short period of time. But I was wrong. Regardless of the fact that most of the songs don't reach the three minutes, they have integrated such a big amount of sounds that the sounds never get boring. You always can discover something new. Same with the vocals which are changing quite a lot on the album. From Hip-Hop style to angry and very, very high everything is presented.
