volbeat godofangelstrustVOLBEAT return with powerful new album ‘God of Angels Trust’ to be released on June 6, 2025. Video for new single ‘By a Monster’s Hand’ now online. “Greatest of all Tours Worldwide” starts in June.

The Danish rock giants VOLBEAT - Michael Poulsen (vocals, guitar), Jon Larsen (drums), and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass) - are back with their ninth studio album, ‘God Of Angels Trust’. The album will be released on June 6, 2025, via Vertigo/ Universal and is available for pre-order now. To accompany the new album, the band will embark on an extensive world tour.

As a first taste, today brings the brand-new single ‘By a Monster’s Hand’, a powerful mid-tempo riff monster that relentlessly breaks with conventional song structures. The track combines massive rhythms with melodic contrasts - a classic VOLBEAT banger with a fresh twist. The video perfectly captures the band’s energy: live on stage, raw, and electrifying. At the same time, it follows a dark yet familiar tone - guaranteed to give you chills. The clip was directed once again by Adam Rothlein and produced by Ghost Atomic, the team behind the videos for ‘Shotgun Blues’, ‘Die to Live’, and ‘Leviathan’.

With ‘God Of Angels Trust’, the band throws all songwriting rules overboard. VOLBEAT, the only non-American band to hold a record of ten number-one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts, have deliberately broken away from conventions and explored new creative paths. “I used to take a lot of time for songwriting, thinking through every aspect of the songs in detail,” says Michael Poulsen. “This time, I wanted to write a VOLBEAT album without overthinking. No rules, no structures - I can start with a chorus or just stack verse upon verse. Anything goes.” Poulsen’s excitement for breaking conventions is evident in ‘God Of Angels Trust’, a powerful, crisp album that is unmistakably VOLBEAT - with their signature blend of catchy melodies and fresh, metallic energy.

In the summer of 2024, Poulsen began working on the songs for the follow-up to ‘Servant of the Mind’ (2021) while VOLBEAT took a year-long break from touring. Poulsen used the time to recover from throat surgery and tour with his death metal band ASINHELL. But the creative drive never left him: within just three weeks, the first half of the new album was written - one song per session. As the sessions progressed, the band followed their instincts and started writing more classic rock songs based on traditional elements. In the fall of 2024, they entered the studio with longtime producer Jacob Hansen. Instead of striving for perfectionism, the band recorded the album live, with as few takes as possible - raw, direct, and unfiltered.

The result is an album that showcases VOLBEAT at their best while venturing into new territory. There was no doubt about the lead guitar parts: Flemming C. Lund, who is currently touring with VOLBEAT and played with Michael Poulsen in ASINHELL, was the perfect choice. Just thirteen days after entering the studio with Jacob Hansen, the album was complete. The fact that VOLBEAT wrote and recorded an entire album in just five weeks is impressive. But what makes ‘God Of Angels Trust’ truly extraordinary is the depth, versatility, and richness that are usually found only in albums that take ten times as long to create. Such a creative feat requires absolute focus, an unshakable flow, and the confidence to follow one’s instincts.

“In a way, it feels like we have come full circle,” explains Michael. “If you draw a circle long enough, you eventually return to the starting point - and that is exactly how it feels now. I have been through surgeries, lineup changes, and all these challenges. But now, it feels like a rebirth. It is not our ninth album - it feels like we are just getting started. And that is an incredibly refreshing feeling.”

Starting in June, VOLBEAT will return to the stage with their “Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide”, traveling through Canada, the USA, Europe, and the UK. The tour kicks off with a co-headliner run with THREE DAYS GRACE, featuring WAGE WAR as special guests, followed by US shows with HALESTORM and THE GHOST INSIDE, and concluding with a European and UK tour with BUSH and GEL.
