EP Review
Ambient industrial trance-like cocoon envelops me; the psychedelic, dreamy soundscape drenches my nerves, something like JOY DIVISION laced by MY BLOODY VALENTINE with psychedelic paint on the Dark Wave with some Bardo Thodol (Tibetan Book of the Dead)-like chanting monotonous, subdued vocals coming from cracks in the wall. Well, no wonder, there are also some Hindu connotations and also a reference to a Japanese backsword called Katana.
This EP is a release after their first LP ‘Double Mirror’, heavily influence by David Lynch’s visions; this EP is its cosmic offshoot, the whole, a musical translation of a kind, though I find it lacking. If it’s to do justice to the visionary director, it’s nowhere near it. Whilst decently trippy with a good range of many interesting sounds, it’s only for certain moods, certain rare times. Have I got any sense that I’ve heard anything new here? The answer is no, it doesn’t stand out to distinguish itself in the sea of music out there already, not much to enthuse about here.
